Therapeutic Massage (without essential oils)

Therapeutic Massage can be a pleasant, relaxing and invigorating experience. It is normally a safe and beneficial form of massage, incorporating a variety of vigorous strokes to release energy that has become stored as knotted areas of tension within the body.

Reflexology

Reflexology is an non-ticklish massage of the feet and is based on the principle that reflex points on the feet relate directly to various organs and systems in the body, revealing the internal state of being of the body as a whole. Massaging these reflex points can benefit the entire body in achieving an overall balance. Reflexology is a natural, drugless way of promoting good health and, like Acupuncture, has been used by the Chinese for centuries. As well as being a therapy in its own right, reflexology is also use in conjunction with other therapies, in particular, the Aromatherapy Associates Traditional Aromatherapy Massage.

For a specific condition, a course of six weekly treatments is recommended.

Acupressure

Literally meaning "finger pressure", Acupressure is a branch of oriental medicine combining traditional Japanese massage with acupuncture. This natural healing technique is incorporated, where appropriate, within the aromatic Indian Head massage, and the Aromatherapy Associates Traditional Aromatherapy face and body treatments. It can have positive benefits for internal and external body pain, accelerating the body's own healing powers.

Aromatic Indian Head Massage

Massage is one of the oldest, most natural and safest forms of therapy known to man. Indian Head Massage works on physical, mental and subtle levels. It is a specific therapy for the head, neck, shoulders, upper back and the face; it therefore covers the vulnerable areas where we are most likely to suffer from stress and tension.

Aromatic oils are applied to relieve symptoms of stress such as:
Tension headaches, irritability, insomnia, muscular tension and stiffness, worry/mental fatigue and exhaustion, lack of focus, concentration and clarity, i.e. confusion, weeping/crying for no reason; eyes "filling up" easily, migraines, hair loss, constant frowning, grinding teeth and a rigid jaw, psoriasis and sometimes dandruff and thick scaly scalp, depression and anxiety.

The Benefits
Scalp massage - stimulates and improves scalp circulation which in turn helps to promote a lustrous texture together with strength and growth of hair. Relaxes the scalp and tones up subcutaneous muscles, thus helping to relieve pressure, headache and eyestrain.

Face massage - soothes, comforts and rebalances vital energy flow, instilling a sense of peace and tranquility. Removes tension from the jaw and soothes our face muscles.

Neck and shoulder massage - relieve muscular tension and stimulates blood circulation. This helps in the elimination of waste material form the body and encourages the distribution of oxygen to the tissues. Restores joint movement and stretches and mobilises the tissue of the neck and shoulders.
